I'm sorry, but I laugh my head off whenever I see that commercial. We too have had birds fly into both our picture window and our sliding glass door. Silly things. I'm so very glad to see the hand of the Lord in your lives as well as the lives of Radene's grandparents. All I can say is, WOW! As for the pooch, small dogs=small brains in my experience!

Are you talking about the contrast between the "Gas maker" and the "wind breakers"? Ha ha. That's how I viewed this picture. I believe you were talking about something different. :)

I am thankful I haven't miss a tithe for many many years because I understand the commandment & the blessing. I would feel guilty if I did miss a tithe to do something else with my first fruit. I was using tithe as only an example. I do fall & make mistakes in other areas of my life. Guilt can be a destroying factor in ones life. (been there done that) Guilt of wrongs done is learned very early in life & should be there if a wrong is done.

Back to subject a little bit. I guess your right in that everything we do for good, we would benefit. I don't think that's a bad thing, but is that our only motivation. Being self-less will cost you & much of that truly can only be done in secret. Not everything will be that way of course.

I wouldn't call this a debate, I was googling stuff on the subject
& found this. Saved in favs, so maybe more conversations to follow.

God Bless.

My only question is how do you feel when you miss a tithe? If you're like me, you don't feel shamed or guilty necessarily, but you feel a desire to get back on track and maybe even give double the next time to "make up" for the missed giving. Fulfilling the desire to remain faithful to Jesus in giving is a benefit to your own conscience. Unfulfilled desire leaves us frustrated and, well, unfulfilled. It's not a bad thing. It's the way God intends for it to work. It glorifies God when my personal desires and His desires are the same thing because every human being is hard wired to fulfill their personal desires. The blessing of doing the Lord's work, in itself, is fulfillment of personal desire to please the Lord. Thanks for the post, Shawn. It's good to have civil debate with people! :)

I somewhat agree, but (as example) when I pay my tithes I don't do it to receive anything in return even though the promise is the God will open the windows of Heaven & pour out a blessing we cannot contain. For every action there is an equal reaction, maybe. The point is to do those things that bring glory to God, even if you will be blessed in doing them. Jesus talked about when you give to do it so your right hand doesn't know what the left hand does. Sound difficult, but He said it another way, when you give, fast etc do it as much as possible in secret & He will reward you openly. I don't look for the reward its just the blessing of doing the Lord's work.
